The City of Buenos Aires will open this Thursday at 8.30 am the registration to vaccinate against the coronavirus to those over 30 years old without risk factors.
“In the next few days the assignment of shifts will begin as new doses are received from the national government,” the Buenos Aires government detailed in a statement.
Sources from the health portfolio indicated that the decision to continue immunization according to age group was made on the basis that “age is the main determining factor “ for a person to develop a serious or fatal illness.
The last age group that the Buenos Aires administration had enabled was that of over 35 years without pre-existing diseases, whose registration began on Friday. Currently, progress is being made with the immunization of this segment of the population.

According to the projection (the last national census was carried out in 2010) of data from the General Directorate of Statistics and Censuses, 3,078,836 people live in the Capital.
At the same time, of 1,969,765 doses destined for the City, 415,816 they were from the second component, which represents 13.5% of the inhabitants and 21% of the vaccines received.

Vaccine combination trial
In order to find alternatives to complete the vaccination schedules, the City Government launched this Wednesday the study on combinations of different vaccines against the coronavirus.
The trial consists of testing the safety and efficacy of applying a second dose of the Sinopharm or AstraZeneca anticovid-19 vaccines to those who received a first application of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
The study aims to generate alternative strategies to increase immunity to the threat of the Delta variant -which so far has only been detected in five imported cases-, given the difficulties caused by the delay in the arrival of component 2 of the Russian vaccine.
