Covid, the bulletin of 23 January: 138,860 new cases and 227 deaths

Data for Sunday 23 January 2022

There are 138,860 * new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 171,263, here the bulletin). The number of people who contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the beginning of the epidemic thus rises to at least 9,923,678. Today’s deaths are 227 ** (yesterday they were 333), for a total of 143,523 victims since February 2020.

The swabs and the scenario

There are 933,384 molecular and antigenic swabs for the coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours in Italy. Yesterday there were 1,043,649. The positive rate of 14.9% (to be precise 14.87), yesterday was 16.4%.

The health situation

The number of ordinary hospitalizations rises to 19,627 (+185 compared to yesterday), patients in intensive care become 1,685 (+9), with 132 admissions on the day (yesterday 121). The discharged / healed grow by 131,303 units, reaching 7,045,249 while the currently positive ones become 2,734,906 (10,957 more than yesterday) of which xx in home isolation.

The vaccination campaign

The doses of the anti-Covid vaccine administered in Italy are 123,819,541. what emerges from the vaccine report updated at 06.15 today. The total with at least one dose equal to 48,755,901 (90.27% of the population over 12), the number of people who have completed the vaccination cycle stands at 47,049,064 (87.11% of the over 12) while the total additional / booster dose amounted to 29,955,140 (75.76% of the potentially affected population). As for the 5-11 year old audience, there are 1,021,173 children with at least one dose (27.93%).

The Campania Region announces that following the daily checks it appears that two deaths registered today date back to a period between 6/01 and 11/01. The Region of Sicily announces that the deaths reported today occurred: N. 8 ON 01/22/22 – N. 13 ON 01/21/22 – N. 3 ON 01/20/22.
