The fifth wave of the pandemic remains uncontrolled in the Region of Murcia. This Thursday, the Minister of Health, Juan José Pedreño, in the press conference after the meeting of the Governing Council, reported
444 new cases of Covid detected in the last day, almost double than a week ago and the highest figure since last February 3. These contagions raise
more than 2,400 the number of active cases in the Community.
Of the 444 new cases,
125 were registered in the municipality of Murcia.
This Wednesday they were counted
39 hospital admissions, one more than the day before. However, the most worrying data was the increase in the occupancy of intensive care units. Currently there
12 seriously ill (three more), all of them unvaccinated and aged between 20 and 55 years.
Pedreño stressed that vaccines are the best weapon to stop the spread of the coronavirus among the sector of the population that has not yet been immunized. That is why the Community is preparing a recapture campaign for those over 50 years of age. In addition, vaccination has been extended to another 12 municipalities.
