The new omicron variant is rampant in Europe and in a few hours sets new daily case records in several countries. This is the case of France, which in the last 24 hours has reported 208 thousand cases, one day after having exceeded the record of the beginning of the pandemic with 179 thousand infections. In announcing the data, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, stated that the situation in hospitals is already difficult due to the delta variant, while the omicron variant has yet to make itself felt.

The sharp increase in cases was also accompanied by an increase in tampons administered (189,512 in the last 24 hours), keeping the positivity rate unchanged at 12.26 percent.
