Italy continues to remain completely dark red, the color that marks the maximum epidemiological risk for Covid-19, in the map published by the ECDC, European Center for Disease Prevention and Control. But the dark red is advancing more and more and has now almost conquered Europe, according to the latest update of the EU agency based in Stockholm. All of Western and Southern Europe are in dark red, along with Scandinavia, the three Baltic States and much of Central and Eastern Europe.
Dark red conquers half of Romania, which last week was still entirely in lighter red, a band that signals a little less serious risk, and Hungary now completely surrenders its territory to dark red. Poland still has a predominance of the light red color, but the darker shade is found in several of its territories. Neither region is yellow or green, the colors that signal a lower risk.
The map is still based only on the number of positive cases, which with the Omicron variant are rising everywhere, recorded in 14 days per 100 thousand inhabitants, and on the percentage of positive tests out of the total number of tests done.
