This Tuesday (26), a panel of 17 independent medical experts from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of Pfizer’s vaccine against Covid-19 in children aged 5 to 11 in the States United.
Emergency permits are expected to be issued within the next few weeks. With that, the country must immunize another 28 million children. However, the dose indicated for this age group is not complete. The forecast is that a third of the dose of adults will be applied, with smaller needles.

Next week, a vaccine advisory group at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is expected to make its own recommendation. If there is an endorsement, the director of the agency, Rochelle Walensky, must release the start of vaccination.
The measurement takes place after a significant increase in the number of cases at this age. Currently, children represent about 9% of all reported cases of Covid-19 in the US. Still, some parents and advocacy groups argue that vaccination is unnecessary.
