Marcello Gandini, the designer who together with Paolo Stanzani created the iconic project of the Lamborghini Countach, did not hide his ‘disapproval’ of the modern version of the model. According to the father of the car’s lines, the LPI 800-4 does not contain the fundamental characteristics of the original, betraying its spirit.
Would it have been better, then, to adhere to the classic version, or is evolution not controlled? This is the fundamental dilemma of the matter. In the absence of a concrete will to remake a Countach similar to that of Gandini by Lamborghini, which as a company rightly projects itself into the future, there are those who have thought of creating a version that tries to be in all respects a reproduction faithful to traditional dictates. Let’s talk about a Lego model made by the creator ‘Barneius‘, imagining it as an additional part of the collection Speed of Champions.
The unofficial creation therefore has a width of 8 ‘stud’, which is the basic unit of measurement of the Lego world. To make it you need some parts that are actually quite common, for a total of 325 pieces. According to the calculation of the unit value of the latter, a set should ideally cost around 34 euros, to which we must add the cost of the instructions. Depending on the new or used Lego retailers, in any case, the price can vary from 35 to 50 euros to obtain at least 95% of the necessary pieces. The construction technique is quite simple, although there are different directions, in order to perfectly reproduce the dry lines of the Countach, in this case a 1985 LP5000 Quattrovalvole.
According to the creator, “the custom stickers were designed by ultimatecollectorstickers, but they are not necessary as the pattern looks recognizable even without them“. In short, even homemade, without going to the spasmodic search for detail, you can have a small Countach complete with a rear wing. And without hurting the original spirit of the legendary model.
