The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) used residential buildings in Lysichansk as their positions. This was told on July 17 by the war correspondent of the Izvestia TV channel Daniil Levin.
The journalist showed one of the shelled houses, where Ukrainian soldiers later settled down.
“Points of nationalists in high-rise buildings, where there were still civilians. Here, for example, an air assault brigade, considered an elite one, settled down. But only when they ran away from Lisichansk, they left not only provisions, but also cartridges,” Levin said, showing the ammunition scattered on the floor.
One of the residents of Lisichansk showed what happened to her house after the shell hit. According to her, the whole house had to save a neighbor’s apartment from a fire.
“The shell hit the neighbor’s apartment, everyone saved it together. It was June 21st. A shell hit from the other side, a slab collapsed from the fifth floor to the fourth, then it was still burning too, ”she said.
The elderly woman also showed the basement of the house, in which they had to hide in order to save their lives, however, there were also positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine there.
“We lived in the basement, it was very scary. There were also soldiers there,” she added.
Earlier on Sunday, Marina Mislavskaya, acting director of the Alchevskpastrans utility company, told an Izvestia correspondent that now their company will not yet be able to transport passengers around the city due to transport damage. As a result of the impact, the trolleybus fleet and outbuildings were completely destroyed.
