Kolkata: Amidst the Corona crisis spread across the country, there has been a lot of shocking news from Kolkata of West Bengal. An elder who had died of Corona and his family had also performed the last rites returned. The incident is of North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. The family of Shivdas Bandhopadhyay, a resident of Birati, was preparing for his Shraddha but he reached his home a day before that.
According to the information, 75-year-old Shivdas Bandhopadhyay was admitted to the hospital on November 11 after coming to Corona positive. Two days later, the family was informed of Bandhopadhyay’s death on behalf of the hospital. Due to the corona protocol, the body was kept in a plastic bag. The family was also not allowed to see the face.
Banddopadhyay’s son told, “We performed the last rites of the dead body and were ready to perform Shraadh today. However, we received a call yesterday. Someone told us that my father has recovered and we should arrange an ambulance to take him home from the hospital. “We are surprised, however, that we brought them home. We still do not know who we cremated.”
When asked whose body was cremated with Bandyopadhyay, a Health Department official said that another elderly COVID patient, Mohinmohan Mukhopadhyay, also died on November 13 and was cremated. .
