A new record of infections was recorded yesterday in Italy with 220,532 cases and 294 deaths with a rate of 16%. But the hypothesis of abandoning the daily bulletin of new positives and proceeding with a different report, only weekly, which focuses on hospital pressure control, is gaining ground also in the CTS and in the government. The very rapid spread of the Omicron variant (according to the estimates of the WHO contager one in two Europeans in the coming months) leads to an underestimation of the real data of the infections. Meanwhile Lombardy, with 30% of employment in the medical area, is moving towards the orange area.
8.29 – Miozzo, 300 deaths in 24 hours; it does not affect any
Only yesterday we had almost 300 deaths, we all rightly remember the earthquake in L’Aquila that claimed 309 victims as a great tragedy: it is evident that it is not just any flu. Agostino Miozzo, former coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee, underlined this in Agor on Rai 3. Epidemiologists predict a further, important rise in infections – recalled Miozzo – luckily we have an important vaccination coverage and the vaccine is proving to be an extraordinary tool, the only one able to really make a difference compared to a year ago. We must insist on vaccinations, especially that of young people and children.
8.12 – Germany, record of over 80 thousand cases
Germany has recorded a new record of 80,430 cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. This is indicated by the data of the Robert Koch Institute, which counts another 384 deaths. In the last few days the confirmed infections had been reduced but in the face of data considered incomplete due to the lower number of tests carried out. The incidence rose to 407.5 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants on a weekly basis, compared to the previous survey of 387.9 cases.
