Coronavirus The coroner fist of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area recommends banning public events

The group recommends that indoor public events be banned for three weeks from December 28 in the metropolitan area.

The metropolitan area The Corona Coordination Group recommends to the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland (AVI) a total ban on indoor public events in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.

The group recommends that indoor public events be banned for three weeks from December 28th. The aim is to reduce the number of contacts more widely, the group says in a press release on Wednesday.

The Corona Coordination Group of Uusimaa municipalities outside the Helsinki Metropolitan Area also recommends a similar ban.

In the press release It is stated that 70 per cent of the infections detected in the Helsinki and Uusimaa hospital districts are already caused by micron transformation. Due to Omikron’s susceptibility to infection, the group believes that the ability to hold events in a safe manner has diminished.

The background to the recommendation is also the congestion of infection tracing, as it has now become almost impossible to break the infection chains that have originated from even small general assemblies, the release states.

On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Corona Coordination Group recommended the closure of a number of public facilities.

Later on Tuesday, the government decided on new restrictive measures.
