Coronavirus, Sicily now almost orange. Calabria and Sardinia yellow
The Coronavirus emergency in Italy continues unabated. The return from holidays and the approaching return to school, expected in two weeks, risk creating a new boom of infections throughout the country, given that the delta variant is widespread throughout the territory. There Sicily it was the first Region to pass into the yellow zone, the measure was triggered on Monday, but the risks for the Musumeci Region are not over. The record, in negative, – reads the Messaggero – on the vaccination campaign front, with just 61.3% of Sicilians immunized, has brought 1,600 new cases of Covid with a skyrocketing positivity rate: 14.4%. According to virologists’ predictions, it could even go orange next week.
From next Monday – continues Il Messaggero – the change in color, from white to yellow, could affect other Regions. First of all Sardinia, where the percentage of vaccinated is 66.1% and Calabria (65.3%). Following: Basilicata (67.4%), the Province of Bolzano (64.5%), Piedmont (66.7%), Molise (72.7%) and Campania (69.4%). Everything will depend on what happens in the medical and intensive care areas in the next few days: if the number of hospitalized patients were to rise, reaching and exceeding the limits of 10% of places occupied in intensive care and 15% of hospitalizations.
