Restaurant restrictions will also be tightened and major sporting and cultural events will be canceled.
In Sweden will be introduced from Thursday 23 December new interest rate restrictions. Prime minister Magdalena Anderssonin the government announced new actions on Tuesday.
The news agencies TT and AFP, among others, reported on the matter.
All those who are able to work remotely must remain in work remotely, restaurant restrictions will be tightened and all major sporting and cultural events will be canceled until at least mid-January.
“The disease caused by the coronavirus is now spreading rapidly and is reflected in the growing burden of medical care. The spread of the new omicron variant is worrying, ”Andersson explained.
“I now want to appeal to the Swedish people: we must take joint responsibility for this new reality that now prevails,” the Prime Minister continued.
In restaurants will henceforth only be served to customers sitting at tables and there must be a safety distance of at least one meter between parties.
“In practice, this means that nightclubs unfortunately don’t celebrate New Year’s Eve,” Andersson said.
For gatherings of 20 to 500 people, there should be seating only. A corona passport is required for events of more than 500 people.
Also there will be restrictions on shops and malls. Andersson said their goal is that off-day discount sales would not lead to a sharp increase in virus infections.
All major sporting and cultural events will be canceled until at least mid-January and a mandatory reservation will be made for most train and bus routes.
The Prime Minister himself said that he had canceled his Christmas trip to Norway due to high infection rates in the neighboring country.
