On Thursday, November 19, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the world exceeded 57 million. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 1 million 360 thousand patients have died. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one COVID-19 patient now dies every 17 seconds in Europe.
We were able to cope with the coronavirus 39 million 600 thousand patients. More than 16 million cases remain active. This is the highest number ever in a pandemic. At the same time, another anti-record has been set – more than 101 thousand patients with COVID-19 are in critical condition as of November 19. The mortality rate is 3%.
Still in the lead United States… The number of people infected in this country is about to cross the 12 million mark! More than 257 thousand patients have already died. Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, United States Admiral Brett Girouar, who is a leading member of the working group on the fight against coronavirus, is confident that the country has reached a “dangerous point” in the situation with the pandemic. “We are now seeing the largest increase in the number of infections, the percentage of hospitalizations from week to week increases by a quarter, deaths too, and there is no movement in the right direction,” – he stressed on the air of the cable channel MSNBC.
In second place in terms of the number of infected is India – almost 9 million people. 132 thousand patients died.
Ranked third Brazil – nearly 6 million infected, 168 thousand dead.
In France and Of Russia the number of detected cases of infection has exceeded 2 million. France is in fourth place, Russia is in fifth. The French authorities reported 47,000 deaths. Almost 35 thousand patients with COVID-19 have died in Russia.
Followed by Spain (1 million 574 thousand infected), United Kingdom (1 million 453 thousand), Argentina (1 million 339 thousand), Italy (1 million 309 thousand), Colombia (1 million 218 thousand), Mexico (1 million 15 thousand).
Ukraine ranks 17th in the world (583 thousand 510 infected) and eighth in Europe. European experts strongly recommend the Ukrainian authorities to urgently introduce a full national lockdown, but the government is not ready for such measures. Meanwhile, foreign epidemiologists are confident that the health care system of Ukraine is bursting at the seams, and the situation with the pandemic is getting out of control. I agree with them former head of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Volodymyr Kurpita… “When a pipe burst in the bathroom and water is flowing in a stream, then we must at least somehow first block the pipe. In our country, the government is now taking out water instead. “– he said, commenting on the situation “Deutsche Welle” (DW).
