China follows its zero tolerance line with COVID: the main measures
The rate of vaccination in China continues at full speed. More than three-quarters of the population of China has already received the full schedule of vaccines that the country administers against COVID-19, according to official data released by the National Health Commission. In addition, the Asian giant has already started giving booster doses to risk groups as elders or customs workers, and nearly 38 million such injections have been given so far.
Despite these data, China continues with the statement that there are no infections in the national territory. Therefore, the country’s authorities consider that the situation is “serious and complex” after the outbreaks that have spread through some provinces since mid-October, which have left around 900 cases of local transmission.
Associated Press assures that it is “impossible” to know the support that China’s harsh policies have on the part of its population, since polls are “rare” and criticisms, “censored.” Gao Fu, the director of the China Center for Disease Control, admitted that the country could open up when 85% of the population is vaccinated.
