Argentina receives more than 3 million doses donated by the United States
This Friday they have arrived in Argentina close to 3.5 million doses of the Coronavirus vaccine from the Moderna laboratory donated by the United States Government. This shipment, considered the largest donation from the United States to a South American country, has arrived at the Ezeiza international airport and has been received by the Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero, and the Charge d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Argentina. , MaryKay Carlson, reports the local newspaper ‘Clarín’.
Thus, Argentina has already received 36 million doses since the mass vaccination campaign was launched by the country’s government, and the president has promised that “many more vaccines will be arriving.”
In the last 24 hours, the Argentine health authorities have confirmed other 465 deaths and more than 17,200 positive cases of coronavirus. In this way, the South American country has already reached 101,158 deaths due to the virus and has a total number of infections of more than 4,737,000 since the start of the pandemic.
Argentina stands as well as the eighth country in the world with the most cases of COVID-19 and in eleventh place in the table of nations with the most registered deaths, the fourth in South America after Brazil –539,000 deaths–, Peru –194,000– and Colombia –114,000 deaths–.
