Behind the gates of a farm in Champrond-en-Gâtine (Eure-et-Loir), the first French breeding of positive visions in Covid-19 has been detected. The slaughter of a thousand of these small mammals raised for their fur has just been ordered. The Champrond-en-Gâtine mink farm is one of the four present in the Hexagon, with that ofEmagny (Doubs), Rives-D’Andaine (Orne), and Montarlot-lès-Rioz (Haute-Saône). The latter was not affected by the virus and analyzes are underway in the other two.
In a statement, the government specifies that “if results prove to be positive in one of these two farms, the same slaughtering measures as in the first concerned farm would be applied“. The authorities are worried because the let’s aim are animals that are easily infected with the coronavirus. It is humans who transmit the disease to them, and in turn, they can be contagious.
