Corona restrictions Avi: Events will be exempt from restrictions in the metropolitan area from Monday

The Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland decided to lift the restrictions in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The decision follows the policy of the corona group.

Proceedings exempt from restrictions in the metropolitan area. The matter was decided by the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland (AVI) on Friday 11 February. The decision follows the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Corona Coordination Group on Tuesday.

Restrictions on events will be lifted next Monday, February 14th.

“We are still preparing to make new decisions to lift the restrictions on time, if the restrictions are no longer necessary in the light of the epidemic,” says the CEO. Merja Ekqvist In a press release from the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland.

However, event organizers must continue to ensure that close contacts do not pose a risk of infection, avi points out.

The organizers must assess for themselves what measures can be taken to prevent the risk of infection. Actions can be, for example, loose placement, improving ventilation or staggering visitor revenue. The regulation applies to, for example, sports facilities, shops, libraries and museums, depending on the number of people, as well as facilities for public events.

Trammels are also relaxing in the areas of the Päijät-Häme and Kymenlaakso hospital districts.

Restrictions on gatherings in the Päijät-Häme region will be relaxed from Monday so that a maximum of half of the farm’s maximum number of people can be admitted to public events of more than 50 people. The corresponding reduction will take effect already on Saturday in the area of the Kymenlaakso Hospital District.

Yet According to the restrictions in force this week, public events of up to 50 people may be held indoors in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area without any restrictions on the number of participants. Events for 51 to 500 people, on the other hand, can be organized if the number of participants does not exceed 50% of the maximum number of participants.

On Tuesday, the metropolitan coordination group of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area justified its view on lifting the restrictions with an improved epidemic situation and reduced infection rates: in the metropolitan area, the peak of the disease wave caused by the omicron variant has reportedly already passed.

There were only six coronavirus patients in intensive care in the Helsinki and Uusimaa hospital districts (Hus) on Friday, says the chief medical officer Markku Mäkijärvi. According to data from Friday, there were 32 coronary patients in intensive care across the country.

Restrictions may need to be tightened again if there is a sudden change in the situation.

Although the number of infections has decreased in recent weeks, the coronavirus is still quite common in Finland compared to the entire epidemic.
