Greece reports the strongest daily increase in corona deaths so far

Greece reports 108 more corona deaths – a record. In the United States, the number of people infected has approached the 12 million mark since the pandemic began. An overview in graphics and numbers.
I.n Germany the health authorities of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) 22,964 new corona infections reported within 24 hours. Compared to the value a week ago, a good 500 more cases were reported.
Last Saturday, the number of new infections reported was 22,461. The peak was reached on Friday with 23,648 cases.
After the number of new infections every day rose sharply in October and early November, the value has recently been comparatively stable. However, there has not yet been a significant decrease in new infections, although a partial lockdown has been in place in Germany since the beginning of November.
The RKI has counted since the beginning of the pandemic 902.528 proven infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany (as of November 21, 00.00 a.m.).
The number of deaths related to the virus rose by Saturday 254 on total 13,884. The RKI estimates that around 593,100 people have now recovered.

In Latvia the number of new corona infections reached a new high on Saturday with 642 cases within 24 hours. The health authority in Riga announced that there have been over 12,700 recorded cases in the Baltic EU country since the outbreak of the pandemic in the spring.
Greece reported 108 more corona deaths on Saturday – more than ever before within a single day. A lifting of the currently applicable lockdown on December 1 therefore hardly seems realistic. A government spokesman had already expressed this assessment on Friday in view of the development of the pandemic in Greece. According to the health authorities, a total of 90,121 infections and 1,527 deaths have so far been confirmed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recommended “targeted and justified” measures to the regions in October that could be taken independently of Moscow. The medical staff in St. Petersburg was meanwhile in constant use. “We are currently getting a lot of calls, the number of sick people is increasing,” said the driver of an ambulance to the AFP news agency.
In Japan the daily new infections rose by 2560 cases, a new record, as the broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday. 539 new infections were reported in Tokyo.
In the United States According to the CDC, the number of confirmed corona infections rose from Saturday by 192,673 to 11,843,490 within one day. In addition, the number of deaths rose to 253,600 around 1885. A few days before the extended Thanksgiving weekend, the country hardest hit by the pandemic is approaching the mark of twelve million infections. The CDC strongly advises against traveling on the upcoming public holidays. “We are alarmed by the exponential increase in cases and hospital admissions.”
