In Germany, the current corona trend continues: The incidence is rising and rising. The clinics are also very concerned about renewed overload.
Berlin – The news does not come as a surprise: The corona incidence * in Germany also increased significantly on Thursday, October 28th. The RKI reported a value of 130.2 in the morning. For comparison: On the day before it was 118 – just a week ago it was 85.6.
Corona in Germany: Incidence continues to rise – value is 130.2
In all of Germany, the health authorities recorded 28 037 new infections within 24 hours. This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:39 a.m. A week ago this value was a total of 16 077 infections.
Within one day, 126 deaths were recorded in the Federal Republic. Another comparison: in the previous week there were 67. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted 4,534,452 detected corona * infections. However, the actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.
The hospitalization incidence – the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions – was given by the RKI on Wednesday as 3.07 (Tuesday: 2.95). With the indicator, however, it must be taken into account that hospital admissions are sometimes reported with delay.
Corona in Germany: Clinics worried about full intensive care units
The clinics in Germany are also very concerned about the current development. The German Hospital Association, for example, warns of increasing utilization of the intensive care units in view of the increasing Corona * infections. “We are in a critical pandemic situation,” said General Manager Gerald Gass Editorial network Germany (RND).
The number of corona patients in the hospital had increased significantly within a week. There are currently almost 40 percent more patients in the normal ward than a week ago. In the intensive care units, it is 15 percent more. “If this development continues, we will have 3000 patients in intensive care again in two weeks,” warned Gaß.
“Even if the hospitals can do this, it will not be able to run without restriction of regular operations,” the association head clarified. Then the doctors in the clinics would have to postpone planned, less urgent treatments again.
Brief review: At the height of the pandemic in January 2021, more than 5700 people with corona were treated in intensive care units. According to figures from the intensive care registry, there are currently almost 1,800 people in the intensive care unit and almost 4,300 patients in the normal ward.
