The ministers are pulling in the same direction: This time, local public transport is also getting some corona rules imposed. That will soon change for buses and trains.
Berlin – What could previously only be suspected by a proposed resolution is now a sure thing. The Prime Minister’s Conference agreed on Thursday (November 18) on a catalog of measures to contain the coronavirus, which also affects buses and trains. Not only local public transport is affected, but also long-distance transport, on ferries and in airplanes, the 3G rule will soon apply. The mask requirement also remains.
Corona in buses and trains: That changes with the new decision
“If passengers have not been vaccinated or have recovered, they must have proof of a negative corona rapid test with them when using a means of transport,” says the paper. The test must not be older than 24 hours at the start of the journey and must be presented “on request”.
The minister-presidents also seem to disagree about exactly how this looks in implementation, because: “From the point of view of the federal states, important questions arise with regard to the practical implementation of such a requirement.”
3G in public transport: The ministers have decided
The following was also thought about the companies that would have to make losses when the passenger traffic is expected to be low: “It remains foreseeable with only limited use of local public transport and thus with cost shortfalls, which will also arise in 2022.” If the rescue package for public transport expires at the end of 2021, a follow-up regulation must be negotiated as soon as possible.
The youngest members of the society are also mentioned in the new decision paper, you can read all of the innovations relating to daycare centers and schools here. 3G will soon not only apply to buses and trains, this change is now a done deal for the workplace too.
