RKI: Germany is at the beginning of the fourth corona wave
Germany is at the beginning of the fourth corona wave, the RKI announced. “The number of cases has been increasing again since the beginning of July 2021 and is increasing much earlier and faster than last year,” says the RKI weekly report on Thursday evening.
According to the RKI, younger age groups are particularly affected. “The positive proportions are by far the highest in these age groups.”
The proportion of positive samples in the PCR tests increased from four to six percent within a week. “This clearly shows the beginning of the fourth wave, which is picking up speed, particularly due to infections among the young adult population,” explains the RKI.
