At the federal-state conference on Wednesday, the states want to extend the existing corona rules and, in some cases, tighten them further. The SPD-led federal states do not want to allow New Year’s fireworks.
D.he corona restrictions are to be extended beyond November and in some places even tightened according to the will of the federal states. From December 1, a maximum of five people from two households will be able to take part in private meetings, according to a resolution proposed by the federal states for the top consultations with the federal government on Wednesday, which the AFP news agency received on Sunday. Also n-tv reported on the content of the draft resolution.
There should be exceptions for the Christmas holidays – then members of more than two households should be able to come together, according to the template. Here, too, an upper limit of five or ten people should apply; the proposed resolution does not yet specify an exact value.
“With this regulation, Christmas should also be possible in this special year as a celebration with family and friends, albeit on a smaller scale,” says the paper. However, it is recommended “wherever possible to go into a home self-quarantine for several days if possible” before and after the holidays.
The template also provides for tightening the mask requirement: “Every person has to wear a mouth and nose cover in closed rooms that are publicly accessible or accessible to visitors or customers,” it says. “In addition, a mouth and nose cover must also be worn in public places in the open air, where people are either confined or not only temporarily.”
The SPD-led federal states also do not want to allow New Year’s Eve fireworks this year. The ignition, purchase and sale of firecrackers and rockets should therefore be banned in Germany at the turn of the year, report the “Berliner Morgenpost” and the business magazine “Business Insider”, referring to the draft resolution of the country presiding over the conference of ministers. Berlin’s Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) currently holds the chair.
The aim is to avoid group formation, to relieve the emergency services such as the police and fire brigade and to keep capacities of the health system free, according to the paper, which is dated November 22nd.
According to the template, the corona restrictions that have been in force since the beginning of November should be extended to at least December 20. The aforementioned tightening should apply from December 1st to January 17th. The draft resolution is the basis for the deliberations of the state heads of government with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) on Wednesday.
