Igor Kornado, a player for Al-Ittihad Jeddah, said that the mistakes caused the team to lose to Damac 1-3, in the “16th round” of the Saudi Football League.
Cornado added, in statements after the end of the match, that his team must forget that loss and prepare for the Club World Cup.
Cornado promised the team’s fans to perform in the best possible way in the tournament, which is being hosted by Saudi Arabia from December 12 to 22.
For his part, Omar Hawsawi, Al-Ittihad’s defender, said that he seeks the fans’ excuse for their dissatisfaction with the team’s results this season, pointing out that Al-Ittihad faced many difficult circumstances, especially at the level of injuries.
Hawsawi added that injuries are part of football, but it is more difficult in the team, especially since Al-Ittihad did not play any match this season with all its stars.
Hawsawi confirmed that Al-Ittihad will have the opportunity to represent Saudi football in the Club World Cup, expressing his hope to perform at a level that satisfies the fans during the tournament.
Al-Ittihad ranks fourth in the Saudi League with 28 points, and will face Auckland City of New Zealand in the opening of the Club World Cup next Tuesday.
