With the victory in the game that opened the 24th round of the competition, Timon reached the 4th position with 37 points, while Tricolor remained in the 17th position with 23 points.
Playing in front of their passionate fans, Corinthians began the match by putting pressure on Bahia, who were struggling to create anything. However, it was the Tricolor that managed to open the scoring, 32 minutes into the first half on goal in a penalty kick (marked with the help of the VAR) from striker Gilberto.
However, a little before the break, Timão also reached the tie in a penalty kick, thanks to the precision of Róger Guedes. In the bid, Bahia was left with a man less, after the expulsion of defensive midfielder Lucas Araújo.
With numerical advantage, Timão had no difficulties in turning the scoreboard in the final stage, thanks to goals from defensive midfielder Cantillo and forward Jô.
Corinthians returns to the field for the Brazilian on Saturday (9) against Sport. On the same day, Bahia visits Athletico-PR at the Arena da Baixada.
