Copyright Paparazzi invent a new way to make money with their images: sue public figures for copyright infringement

In July, Intergral Images sued pop star Dua Lipa after publishing a picture of himself taken by Paparazzi on Instagram without the necessary graph information.

Although paparazzi often depict public figures secretly or against their will, the images taken are still protected by copyright. Therefore, the people described themselves are not free to share the images on their own social media accounts.

The commercial value of the images is enhanced by the fact that the advertising revenue earned through so-called “super-public” Instagram accounts can be substantial.
