The camera on board the LAPD patrol car left no room for doubt: the pair of agents ignored a radio call for help to continue trying to capture a Snorlax in the Pokémon Go game. to intercept thieves who had just robbed a nearby store. The two agents claimed not to have heard the request, but were eventually fired.
Images from the onboard camera show that “for approximately 20 minutes, [o vídeo] show [os agentes] talking about Pokemon, as they drive to different locations where the virtual creatures were appearing on their phones,” according to the document that was released.

While agents Louis Lozano and Eric Mitchell were searching for Pokémon, another agent, Capt Davenport, was near the store when the robbery took place and revealed he saw the patrol car of the pair of agents parked on a nearby street. As these agents did not respond to the call, Capt Davenport acted alone and saw the patrol car heading in another direction.
In the recordings it is possible to hear agent Mitchell telling Lozano that a Snorlax appeared at a nearby intersection and the car then heads in that direction, also listening for the next 20 minutes to a discussion about the game, namely about battles between Snorlax and Togetic and that “the guys will really be jealous”. Snorlax is a relatively rarity capture in that game.
The investigation into what happened concluded that the agents were playing during their shift, that they lied in their defense and that they failed to provide the support that was requested of them, leading to the dismissal of the two police officers. The appeals court rejected the agents’ request and upheld the dismissal.
