Mexico City.– The Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) demanded that the authorities act with determination and urgency in the face of the insecurity crisis experienced in the country.
Through a statement, the business organization pointed out that to contain crime, a coordinated strategy is required between all levels of Government, prioritizing intelligence and prevention.
“The recent acts of violence in Mexico are a worrying reflection of the situation we face as a country. We strongly condemn the acts that have claimed the lives of innocent people, and we reiterate our demand that the authorities act with determination and urgency,” he stated. . The organization directed by José Medina Mora, recalled that in recent weeks, more than 155 people have lost their lives in Sinaloa and the economic damage exceeds 800 million pesos.
He also regretted the murder of the mayor of Chilpancingo.
“This unfortunate event should not be repeated. It is crucial that the Government guarantee adequate security conditions so that public servants can perform their duties without fear of reprisals from organized crime and communities can live in peace,” he stressed. He highlighted that the last six-year period was the most violent in the history of Mexico, with more than 191 thousand homicides and 51 thousand missing people. “The militarization of public security has generated concerns about respect for human rights, and it is urgent to rethink the strategy to combat organized crime,” he said. Coparmex added that the security strategy presented by the federal government will be key to taking effective measures to stop violence and restore peace in the country. “We will be attentive to the implementation of this strategy, underlining the need to continually evaluate its actions to identify and recognize those that are effective, as well as adjust those that require improvements. Intelligence, coordination and accountability will be fundamental pillars for “Mexico is moving towards lasting peace,” he warned.
