The meeting, which took place in Warsaw, dealt with “the relations of friendship and joint cooperation between the UAE and Poland, and opportunities to strengthen and develop them in all fields, to achieve the common interests of the two friendly countries and their peoples,” according to WAM news agency.
The two sides also discussed issues of common interest, developments on the regional and international arenas, and international efforts to find a political settlement to the crisis in Ukraine.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen joint cooperation with Poland in various fields, in light of the distinguished bilateral relations that bring together the two countries.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also met with Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau, where they discussed ways to strengthen the Emirati-Polish bilateral relations, and addressed a number of regional and international issues, including the crisis in Ukraine and global efforts to achieve stability in energy markets.
In his speech in the joint statement with Zbigniew Rao, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed said: “The UAE values the exceptional relations and the close ties that unite our two countries, which include cooperation in various economic, political and cultural fields.”
He also pointed out that “Poland’s valuable participation in Expo 2020 Dubai was a present example of this joint cooperation and Poland’s cultural and economic potential and its ability to innovate and create.”
He continued: “During the current period in which the world, especially Europe, is facing difficult and complex challenges, we appreciate Poland’s decisive role, especially in facing international issues in terms of its cooperation with neighboring countries in dealing with the humanitarian crisis resulting from the conflict in Ukraine, by receiving Millions of refugees are welcomed with warmth, expanding social safety nets to meet their needs.
“We appreciate Poland’s vital role in facilitating the delivery of aid to Ukraine, including relief supplies coming from my country,” he added.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed added: “We believe in the need to intensify efforts to alleviate crises, especially with regard to allowing humanitarian aid to reach those in need without any hindrances. We also support Poland in expressing our concern about the high levels of hunger and food insecurity globally, which requires us to make efforts Internationally, to meet these common challenges, which is one of my country’s top priorities.
He also welcomed “all mediation efforts made by the international community to bring together views and promote stability and peace in Europe and around the world.”
He said, “The UAE, as a current member of the Security Council, looks forward to continuing to work with member states to resolve the conflict peacefully and through diplomatic means, in line with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.”
He continued, “Our economic and commercial partnerships reflect the common goals between our two countries. Last year, non-oil trade between the two countries increased to about 1.4 billion US dollars, which represents an increase of 10 percent compared to previous years, and the UAE received more than 37,000 Polish tourists.” As well as signing new agreements aimed at developing and expanding horizons for investment and economic cooperation.
“We look forward to strengthening aspects of cooperation in all fields, especially renewable energy, health, education and technology, to achieve more prosperity and stability for our two peoples,” the UAE foreign minister added.
For his part, Rao stressed, “the importance of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed’s visit, in opening many horizons to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two sides in all fields.”
He pointed out that the UAE and Poland “have distinguished bilateral relations, and there is a common interest from both countries to develop prospects for cooperation in various fields.”
He also praised the “great efforts made by the UAE to consolidate regional security and stability and maintain international peace and security,” praising its outstanding global humanitarian initiatives.
