Ferrari towards electric
2025 will be a special year in the history of Ferrari, which will launch a 100% electric supercar for the first time. Added to this is the imminent inauguration of a new e-building intended for the creation of its own electric vehicles and ‘Made in Maranello’ batteries. The ‘Prancing Horse’, therefore, is also preparing to enter this new era, for the moment with the creation of only road cars.
Even in Formula E?
But when we talk about Ferrari we obviously cannot exclude the sporting component, and in the field of electric competitions the highest category at an international level is naturally represented by Formula E. From this aspect, therefore, a question arises spontaneously: will it be possible to see the ‘Red’ one day also in this competition?
Dodds’ hope
A first signal came directly from CEO of Formula E James Doddswho however did not say anything about potential contacts with Ferrari: “Perhaps – declared ad Autosport – they announced an electrification plant in Italy and talked about a future power line for them. For the first time they talked about a pure, non-hybrid electric line. I think Ferrari’s involvement would elevate the championship. We are very lucky because Porsche has the same kind of motorsport history running in their blood and so does Maserati, although obviously they exited motorsport at a time when Ferrari remained. I believe that Ferrari, in addition to having greater credibility in the world of motorsport, brings with it a loyal fan base which is incredible. So I think in terms of attracting motorsports fans who come to see our sport, Ferrari would do a great job. It is clear that I would rather they participate than not participate. I think it would elevate the championship, whether it’s exponential or game-changing remains to be seen, but it’s clear they’re in a league of their own.”
Current projects
A vague response, therefore, as well as that of a Ferrari spokesperson regarding a possible debut of the Ferrari in Formula E: “Our focus today is on F1 and endurance, and we recently announced that we will take racing where we have never done it before: on the water.” This last aspect refers to the recent birth of the Scuderia’s official sailing team.
