With the arrival of the Halloween party, the demand for these items increases, so the organization recommends verifying that they meet the safety requirements and include the CE marking.
The Halloween party is approaching and the countdown to the terrifying day has already begun. Although it is not a Spanish holiday, the country has received it and it is increasingly celebrated in the streets, in shops and even in schools. Typical of the time are pumpkins, skeletons, spider webs, vampires and other elements of the style that terrify but attract people of all ages. In addition to the typical decoration, there are many who completely merge with the foreign custom and wear all kinds of costumes to give as much fear as possible.
For this reason, the Association of Consumers and Users on the Net (Consumur) has wanted to help those who are thinking of buying a costume for Halloween with a decalogue of recommendations in which they inform about the safety requirements that the products must meet. In this way, the association wants the monsters, zombies, dead and vampires of October 31 to make conscious and safe purchases. These are Consumur’s tips for purchasing costumes and accessories:
1. First of all, it must be taken into account that children’s costumes are considered a toy, so they must comply with safety requirements and specific regulations regarding mechanical and physical properties, ventilation surface or flammability. They must include the CE marking, which means that the product complies with the essential safety requirements set out in community regulations, the name and brand of the product, the company name, the manufacturer and importer address, as well as the instructions and warnings of use.
2. If you buy a mask, it must be ensured that it has enough ventilation holes and that they are suitable for the age of the person who is going to use it.
3. In the case of cosmetics, you must carefully read the labeling, which must include, as a minimum, the name of the product, the manufacturer and importer, including their address, the minimum expiration date, the batch number and its components. .
4. Regarding the costumes, in addition to reading their labeling and checking that they comply with safety regulations, it is recommended to buy those that include the storage instructions on the label, in order to follow the correct washing and maintenance instructions.
5. Compare the prices in several establishments, since it is very possible to find different prices for the same item depending on the store.
6. Always demand the purchase receipt or invoice, and keep it for possible claims.
7. Keep the commercial catalogs and the advertising of the product in which its characteristics are defined.
8. Before making the purchase, find out about the return of the product. The establishment does not have the obligation to change a product that is in perfect condition, unless it has been announced.
9. If you decide to make your own costume, try to recycle the materials you don’t use and be creative.
10. Buy the items in a store adhered to the Consumer Arbitration System.
