Mintsifra: disabling Megafon and Rostelecom from LINX will not affect Internet speed
The disconnection of the Russian providers Megafon and Rostelecom from the London Internet traffic exchange point (LINX) will not affect the speed and quality of the Internet connection. So the consequences of the restrictions were assessed by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, reports TASS.
The department noted that the traffic will be redistributed between other exchange nodes.
The decision of the British LINX to disconnect two Russian operators became known earlier, on March 12. MegaFon and Rostelecom reported that the restrictions would not affect the quality of services provided to Russian subscriptions.
Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation reported that now some Russian sites may not open due to problems in the work of certification centers for Internet resources. The department advised the residents of Russia to switch to domestic browsers, for example, Yandex.Browser or Atom.
After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, many Western countries reacted to Russia’s actions with harsh sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities, and a number of foreign companies and brands ceased their activities in the territory of the Russian Federation.
