Jordan assures that a missile launched from Lebanon falls south of Amman without causing damage
The Jordanian Army assures that a missile launched last night from southern Lebanon fell in a desert and uninhabited area south of the capital, Amman, without causing victims or damage, official sources reported this Sunday.
“A ‘Grad’ missile fell in an uninhabited desert area of Muwaqqar, south of Amman (…) No human or material damage was caused as a result of the missile that was launched from southern Lebanon,” said a military official from the Jordanian Armed Forces, on condition of anonymity, in an Army statement.
The informant stated that the air defense systems “will deal with any other missile or drone activity that attempts to violate Jordanian airspace,” as the kingdom will protect the country “from any danger that seeks to destabilize its security and stability.”
The city of Muwaqqar, in northwestern Jordan, is located just 30 kilometers southeast of Amman and about 150 kilometers from Lebanon.
The impact of this projectile occurred shortly after the Israeli Army reported that they had activated the sirens in the Jerusalem area “after a launch from Lebanon into Israeli territory.”
Jordan has previously shot down drones launched from other countries, including from Iran and Iraq, that were aimed at Israel.
Since the assassination of the leader of the Lebanese Shiite group, Hasan Nasrallah, by Israel and confirmed yesterday, alerts have been activated of a possible escalation of attacks by the so-called ‘Axis of Resistance’, led by Iran and of which Hezbollah is a part , the amalgamation of Shiite groups in Iraq, the Palestinian formation Hamas and the Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen.
