As we learned during the State of Play presentation, I agree it is a 5v5 multiplayer hero shooter and therefore to be captivating in the long term it will necessarily have constant injections of new content. Obviously Firewalk Studios is also aware of this, explaining that the title will be supported over time Completely free updateswith the aim of increasing the variety offered by the game.
In particular, game director Ryan Ellis reported that Concord will receive “free and periodic post-launch updates that will introduce new Freegunners (i.e. the playable characters), maps, modes, cinematic cutscenes and more”. As for the content at launch, 16 Freegunners have been confirmed, each characterized by a unique arsenal and abilities to master to get the better of opponents, while not there are precise details on the number of modes and maps.
Will Concord be free-to-play or paid?
The idea of not publishing content related to paid gameplay is certainly an appreciable solution and one which is adopted by the majority of multiplayer games on the market, as it doesn’t divide the community and at the same time keeps players glued to the servers, with obvious benefits for both developers and the public.
While this aspect has been confirmed, it is currently unclear whether Concord will be a paid game at full or budget price or whether it will be a free-to-play title that can be downloaded for free. The clues seem to lean towards the first case, but to be absolutely certain it will be necessary to wait for official communications. In the meantime we remind you that the game will be available from August 23rd on PS5 and PC. Yesterday the first gameplay sequences and a cinematic video were presented which presents part of the cast of the shooter from Firewalk Studios.
