“There is still concern about eliminating the sludge from the sewer, so that it can drain well, in a few hours in which we look to the sky for the warning of a new DANA. “It is important to pay attention to the alerts and follow all the recommendations.”
This is how the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, expressed herself on social networks this Wednesday, regarding the arrival of a new storm this Thursday.
The localities affected by DANA on October 29 in the province of Valencia urge citizens and volunteers working on their reconstruction to avoid displacement while the current weather alert for showers with storms and strong winds is maintained.
This Wednesday, both the Department of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Federation of Business Estates of the Valencian Community have stressed the importance of keeping ravine and river channels in good condition to mitigate risks in the event of new rainfall.
In addition, the clogging of some sewage systems could cause new overflows in the event of rainfall, for which specific machinery is also needed to remove sludge from the clogged sanitation network.
Councilor Nuria Montes has reported on the progress in the cleaning of roads and accesses and the removal of mud and debris launched in the industrial areas affected by the damage.
At this point, progress has been made in cleaning roads in several business parks such as Beniparrell, thanks to the arrival of heavy machinery contracted by Ivace+i. These advances are being extended to the rest of the business parks and a progressive increase in work is expected to return normality to these industrial areas as soon as possible to facilitate their recovery and reactivation for companies.
In this sense, the Ministry has also highlighted the need to carry out, as a priority, exhaustive cleaning in points with high toxicity, where food and other decomposing products accumulate.
