The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) through the National Council for Educational Development (Conafe) and the Financial Institution for Wellbeing (Finabien) have joined forces in favor of marginalized communities in Mexico.
The educational institutions signed a Framework Collaboration Agreementwhose main objective bring banking services and financial products closer to highly and very highly marginalized communitieswith the support of the 63,133 educational figures of the Council.
The signing of the agreement establishes the general bases of collaboration between both institutions to promote financial education and close inequality gaps.
The directors of Conafe and Finabien highlighted the importance of this synergy in line with the government’s commitment to prioritize the well-being of the most vulnerable sectors of society.
Social transformation from the local
Gabriel Cámara Cervera, general director of Conafe, emphasized the organization’s commitment to social transformation from the base. Through direct dialogue in the communities, It seeks to inform and guide on the appropriate use of resources from the social programs of the Government of Mexico..
Rocío Mejía Flores, head of Finabien, highlighted the joint effort to bring financial culture to the most marginalized regions of the country. The collaboration focuses on municipalities without a banking presence and considered highly marginalized, where financial options and basic services will be provided through territorial coordination of Conafe and state management of Finabien.
Both institutions will make a Basic Guide for Financial Inclusion available to the public, intended to explain key concepts such as savings, credit and Finabien services. This tool, designed with simple language, will be essential to promote economic autonomy and local development in communities.
Conafe and Finabien will promote joint training actions in financial education, including courses, workshops and tutorials. These activities will be aimed at students, parents and community members, with the purpose of strengthening their financial knowledge and skills.
