Stellantis confirms the comeback of the Opel Manta. Not as an Elektromod, but as an electric SUV.
Striking news during the Stellantis EV Day: we learned that Opel will only offer electric models from 2028 and that one of those models will be in the showroom as Manta-e. Forget the recent Elektromod based on the Opel Manta A, after all, it is a sporty crossover model. Yes, after the example of the Ford Mustang Mach-e. Perhaps that Opel Manta-e builds on the modular STLA architecture from Stellantis, but it is still too early for specifications. The SUV coupe is only planned for 2025.
By the end of 2025, Stellantis will have invested 25 billion euros in the development of electrical technology, including software and factories, for the group’s 14 brands. The goal is clear: by 2030, Stellantis electrified models should represent 70% of European and 40% of US sales. Fiat is playing a pioneering role and will have a fully electric range from 2024. Opel will therefore follow in 2028.
