Colombian National Team: RCN challenges Gol Caracol and will also broadcast friendlies

The team of Nestor Lawrence will face off against South Korea and Japan on March 24 and 28.

Meanwhile, it became known that the friendly matches in Asia will not only be broadcast by Gol Caracol, as was usual up to now with the senior team. Now, RCN is added.

This was revealed this Friday by the journalist Carlos Antonio Velez on the Antena 2 program ‘Planeta Fútbol’. He indicated that for now the channel will be able to broadcast these friendly games, so the question remains whether it will also be able to bid for the rights for the next World Cup qualifier.

Until now, the matches of the Senior National Team were exclusively for Gol Caracol, which was the sole owner of the transmission rights that were acquired from the Colombian Football FederationFCF.

But the contract with Caracol TV ended in the last round. So, as EL TIEMPO learned, currently the parties are in full renegotiation, and Caracol enjoys the first option.

However, with this announcement of a shared transmission in the friendlies, the question remains if the tie would enter into that possibility.

RCN and Caracol have already broadcast other competitions together such as the World Cup in Qatar or the South American sub-20, as well as the Copa América, which is a Conmebol tournament.
