The United States took a 2-0 lead against Colombia on Friday in their Davis Cup group stage series, with wins in the first two individual matches.
Earlier in the day, Sebastian Korda defeated Colombian Nicolás Mejía in three competitive sets. The American, son of former Czech tennis player Petr Korda, won 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in two hours and one minute of play in Reno (Nevada).
Mejía, number 265 in the ATP ranking, stood up to the American, number 40, until the end in a duel between tennis players who know each other perfectly for having been a couple in doubles in the youth category.

This was the match between Korda and Mejía
Korda, 21, managed to impose his aggressive game in the sets where he hit the serve. In the first round, the tennis player from Bradenton (Florida) scored six aces that cleared the way for him until the partial 6-4.
Mejia raised her game in the second set, in which Korda failed to earn a single service point and committed three double faults.
The 22-year-old tennis player from Bogota achieved two initial breaks with which he went ahead 4-1 and won the set, pocketing a total of six consecutive games.
In the third set, Korda rolled up his sleeves to avoid the surprise but Mejía resisted the onslaught and both reached the definition matched 4-4.
In the decisive moment, the American drew his serve again to take a 5-4 lead and seal the first point for the United States with a final break.
In the second clash of the first day of the tie, the American Taylor Fritz, ATP number 20, had no mercy with the Colombian Alejandro González (453), whom he defeated 6-1, 6-0.
