The delegation of Colombia won the title of first Bolivarian Youth Games, that ended this Sunday in Sucre, Boliviaconfirming supremacy.
With 73 gold medals, 51 silver and 55 bronze, for a total of 179, Colombia took first place in the overall medal table, ahead of Venezuela, which achieved 63 gold, 48 silver and 46 bronze. Third place went to Chile with 30 gold, 40 silver and 47 bronze.
The best
The delegation won at least one medal in all the disciplines in which it took part, but stood out in athletics, a sport in which it won 12 golds, five silvers and 15 bronzes.
Colombia won the athletics, boxing, and cycling tournaments in its three disciplines: BMX, road and track, artistic gymnastics, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, and archery.
“In BMX cycling and tennisColombia kept 100% of the gold medals that were in dispute, while of the 73 gold medals, 39 were won by women, 30 by men and 4 by mixed teams,” indicated the Colombian Olympic Committee (CO).
And he added: “In the individual competition, the Colombian multi-medallist of the Games was the swimmer from Antioquia Tiffany Murillo who won five gold medals and two silver, followed by the gymnast Keynher Camilo Vera with four golds and one silver.”
