The president of the Confederation, Robson Braga de Andrade, says that the sector needs to grow 4% a year
the president of CNI (National Confederation of Industry), Robson Braga de Andrade, said this Tuesday (6.Dec.2022) that he defends the recreation of the MDIC (Ministry of Development of Industry and Commerce).
The portfolio was closed in January 2019, when Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy) joined 4 ministries in the Ministry of Economy. According to Robson Braga, the MDIC has not made so many subsidies for the industry in the past and that the ministry’s return would be good.
He defended that a minister cannot take care of public accounts and the development of economic policies. 🇧🇷Whoever takes care of the cashier cannot also be the person who does development planning”, said the president of the CNI.
He also stated that countries are seeing that the industry can make the growth and development of nations greater. He argued that the sector creates quality jobs and pays better wages.
🇧🇷We believe it is very important to recreate the MDIC with a good, adequate structure, directly linked to the president, but which also has the necessary resources to make a long-term industrial policy”, declared Robson Braga.
He also defended that the government has goals for growth. 🇧🇷We have to understand that the country, from 2024, has to grow at a rate of at least 4% per year. For this, the industry needs to grow at least these 4% per year”, he stated.
PUBLIC ACCOUNTS AND BOLSA FAMÍLIA
Robson Braga de Andrade said that Brazil needs to have Bolsa Família because of the number of people who are on the poverty line. But he said that it is necessary to cut spending so that there is a source of funding for the income transfer program.
Regarding the PEC (Proposal for Amendment to the Constitution), the president of the CNI said that Congress is responsible. He also stated that, according to the estimates of the confederation, if the break of the constitutional amendment is R$ 130 billion in 2 years, it will be something that “Brazil can withstand without a large increase in inflation🇧🇷 For now, the expected fiscal impact is BRL 199 billion.
OECD
The president of the CNI said that he is in favor of Brazil’s entry into the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development)ASAP🇧🇷 According to him, the process causes pressure for governments to do the “homework”, such as tax and administrative reform.
🇧🇷Joining the OECD obliges Brazil to do its homework. If we have a goal in Brazil that I defend of setting a growth of 4%, everyone will work according to this proposal”, said Robson Braga.
