The Director of the Food Safety Department, Abdullah Salem Janaan, told “Emirates Today”: “The number of food products that were registered in the electronic food registration and approval system (ZAD) database reached 949,200 food products by the end of 2021, and it includes a variety of classifications. Food products, including 69,243 dairy products, and 64,991 meat products.
He added that the ministry is working to keep pace with the state’s directions and leadership to ensure the enhancement of food security and the continuity and sustainability of food supply chains, support for national products and open global markets for them, and to enhance the state’s leadership as a center for food trade, in addition to strengthening the state’s position among the countries with which it is linked to the food trade system.
The system is a common electronic interface for exchanging information about food imported into the country, including the results of laboratory tests, which greatly contributes to facilitating the transfer of food consignments between the emirates of the country. The system includes five axes, namely registering food products, facilitating the transfer of imported shipments between the emirates of the country, providing human and financial resources through the ability to view the results of laboratory tests for each food product in circulation, and speeding up the release of food shipments.
