As part of his tour of some northern states, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, virtual president-elect, accompanied President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on a visit to the New Customs Center of Mexico, located in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.
This tour aimed to evaluate the progress of the infrastructure, modernization and technological development program of the country’s customs.
Claudia Sheinbaum’s visit to New Mexico Customs Center was featured on her social networks, where she expressed her enthusiasm for the project.
“Today I had the opportunity to accompany President @lopezobrador_ to learn about the progress of the infrastructure, modernization and technology development program of the Mexico customs. We did it at the New Mexico Customs Center that is being built in Nuevo Laredo,” shared Claudia Sheinbaum.
The main purpose of the New Mexico Customs Center project is to improve trade in the country and continue fighting corruption, a priority issue for the current administration.
“Something impressive that will help us a lot to improve trade, but also to continue making progress in ending corruption where it is still found,” added Sheinbaum.
The tour was attended by the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal; the General Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, and retired General André Georges Foullon Van Lissum, head of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).
The New Mexico Customs Center in Nuevo Laredo is part of a comprehensive effort to modernize Mexican customs, integrating advanced technology and improving infrastructure to streamline international trade.
