On her campaign tour through the state of Pachuca, the presidential candidate of the Let's Keep Making History coalition, Claudia Sheinbaummade a call to the INE to carry out an information campaign to the citizens to spread the word that election day will be June 2.
''The INE needs to make a campaign that the vote is on June 2, we have not seen campaign of the National Electoral Institute that Citizens go out to vote on June 2. Explain that election day is June 2, sometimes people have July in mind (…) It is a call that I make from here in Pachuca, Hidalgo, –where we are–, to the National Electoral Institute to run a campaign.' ', was the message that the Morena-PT-PVEM standard bearer gave to the electoral authorities.
''What we want is for citizens to participate massively, for all Mexicans aged 18 and over to know that on the day they have to go out and vote for the Presidency of the Republic, for the Senate, for the federal deputies and In most states for local councils and municipal presidencies, there are some where not, and of course for nine or eight governorships and the Head of Government of Mexico City,'' he explained.
For this reason, he expressed that it is vital, that With one month left until the elections, citizens are called through the media, as well as in the streets with posters and billboards so that Mexican men and women come out to assert their voice through the polls on June 2, 2024.
''We call, practically a month before the election, that a massive campaign be carried out in all the media, on posters, on billboards, that the vote is on June 2, 2024,'' he pointed out.
Why was the election date changed?
After a reforms the political-electoral law in February 2014, the date of the elections was changed, that used to be worn in the month of July, and the date of June 2 remained.
It should be noted that the 2024 elections will not only elect the presidency, but also governors, deputies, senators and municipalities. Specifically, these are the positions that will be at stake:
- 128 seats in the Senate of the Republic.
- 500 Seats in the Chamber of Deputies.
- Headquarters of Mexico City.
- 1,098 local councils.
- 18,527 municipal and auxiliary positions
