Rayados found a way to damage Carlos Felipe Rodríguez’s goal. The central defender, Samir Caetano, experienced his worst Clásico Regio today in ‘El Volcán’ by giving away two goals for the Pandilla this Thursday.
Sergio Canales (28′) and Maximiliano Meza (48′) gave Club de Futbol Monterrey Rayados the victory in this first leg duel. The Spaniard went in with the ball at his feet to shoot Carlos Rodríguez.
While Maxi Meza waited for the service at the far post to push the ball and break the tie that Diego Lainez had achieved (45+3′), after changing pace and beating Esteban Andrada’s stretch.
Rayados de Monterrey will receive the return on Sunday, May 12 at the Gigante de Acero. A win or a draw would give them a place in the semi-finals. On the other hand, Tigres UANL has to win by more than two goals at BBVA to eliminate its archrival in the 137th edition of the Clásico del Norte in Liga MX.
