City Transformer CT-2, Quadricycle That Changes Size

The City Transformer CT-2 it’s a urban machine designed to meet the needs of modern cities. Equipped with an innovative variable-track chassis, the CT-2 can adjust your width from 1 meter in “City” mode for slow traffic and parking, to 1.3 meters in “Performance” mode for greater stability and comfort at high speeds. It is the first series-produced vehicle from City Transformera company Israeli founded in 2014, specialized in variable width microcars.

The City Transformer CT-2 measures 2.5 meters in length, 1.53 meters in height and varies in width from 1 to 1.3 meters depending on the configuration. With a step of 1.8 meters and short overhangs, it offers a spacious and welcoming interior in compact dimensions, ideal for urban use.

The cargo volume reaches up to 450 liters and has an empty weight of 450 kg, which increases to 560 kg with the battery. The aluminum body and steel frame guarantee lightness and strength. The vehicle is equipped with 15” wheels and 135/70 tyresand disc brakes to ensure performance and energy efficiency.

The aluminum body boasts a modern design with large glass surfacesincluding two glass roof panels for greater brightness and visibility. The front features LED daytime running lights and well-protected round headlights, while the vertical rear lights ensure effective and safe lighting. The large doors have electrically opening windows.

The CT-2 stands out for refined and functional interiorsdespite its compact size. The 1+1 seat layout ensures comfort, and the door design integrates harmoniously with the dashboard. The interiors are made with ecological materials and meticulous finishes. The hexagonal steering wheelelegant and ergonomic, integrates the controls for the on-board computer, the cruise controlaudio and telephone connection.

The instrumentation is displayed on a rectangular digital display, while the lights, windshield wipers and indicators are controlled via headlight switch levers. The selection of driving modes “City” And “Performance” is operated by knobs on the sides of the steering wheel. The cargo area is accessible via a split tailgatewith a top that opens upwards and a lower flap for easier loading.

Engine, battery and autonomy

The CT-2 is equipped with two electric motors mounted on the rear wheels, with a nominal power of 15 kW (20 HP) and a peak power of 22 kW (30 HP). In “City” mode it reaches 40 km/hwhile in “Performance” mode it can reach up to 90 km/hThe vehicle has a turning circle of 8.5 metres, reduced to 8.2 metres with the chassis in narrow mode.

There 48V lithium batterywith a capacity of 15 kWh and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) technology, it recharges in 4 hours and 30 minutes via a household socket from 3.3 kW. It offers autonomy of up to 180 kmwhich goes down to 120 km with active air conditioning. Heating is standard, while cooling is optional.

Price, how much does it cost

The City Transformer CT-2, available for the European market in the last quarter of 2019, 2026will be offered in two versions: one passenger with 1+1 seats and one Cargo with a larger cargo area and single-seater configuration.

The starting price is 16,000 euroswith the possibility of pre-order by paying 150 euros (refundable).
