The new Citroen C4, also available in a 100% electric version, stands out in its segment for its guaranteed high technological and safety standards. One of the systems on which the French car manufacturer wanted to focus more is the Highway Driver Assist, which has the task of managing speed and trajectory while maintaining the position within the driving lane. Thanks to this technology (and to the other 19 of the latest generation that equip this model), the Citroen sedan can boast a level 2 semi-autonomous driving.
More specifically, the Highway Driver Assist system associates the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function with the Active Lane Departure Warning. Acting on accelerator, brake and steering for speeds between 30 and 180 km / h, this technology leaves the driver the choice between three distinct levels of distance with the vehicle in front: it will then be the same apparatus to manage speed and trajectory, leaving the driver the right to regain control at any time via the steering wheel or the brakes. And that’s not all, because even the slowdowns they are managed autonomously by the vehicle, with the latter automatically stopping and restarting after a stopping time of less than 3 seconds. As Citroen itself explains, this technology will also be available on the new C5 Aircross with 8-speed automatic transmission (also in plug-in hybrid version) and on the new C5 X.
