From one extreme to the other. Because in an automotive world in which SUVs continue to depopulate without having any intention of stopping their growth, there is another segment whose diffusion is proving extremely relevant: that of electric minicars. Registrations of this type of car have increased dramatically in recent years: just think that in 2020 there were 24,000, and in 2021 well 42,000. Despite a top speed that rarely exceeds 75 km / h, electric minicars amaze customers with their technological standards and the safety they guarantee.
Within this segment, there is a model that more than any other is enjoying more than exponential success: let’s talk about Citroen Ami, an electric minicar presented in 2020 and sold only online, which has accumulated more than 20,000 deliveries in Europe since its launch, exceeding all targets. Even in Italy, where the deliveries of the small French company exceeded 5,000 units: just think that in the quadricycle segment, in the first three months of 2022, it conquered 76% of market share. “Ami, 100% electric, is a real success in our country, it represents an easy, modern, non-conformist, ultra-accessible means of mobility, even for the youngest, aged fourteen and up. – commented Marco Antonini, brand manager of Citroen Italia – Ami is fully customizable, offers a 100% digital customer journeyfrom the configuration up to the final purchase, with delivery that can take place either at your home or from a dealer “.
As underlined by Il Corriere della Sera this morning on newsstands, the very successful results obtained by Citroen Ami have also put in place the hypothesis of the rebirth of a new Fiat Topolino, which could be added as early as next year among the Stellantis models to which the historic Italian brand now belongs. According to the latest rumors, it should be developed precisely on the basis of the Ami, but it will be equipped with a sunroof: its production could take place in the Kenitra plant, in Morocco.
