Citizenship income, the police unmask a gang of 50 people: they organized trips to Italy to collect the subsidy
The Basic income returns to discuss and reveals yet another scandal: the state police have unmasked more than 50 people who showed up at the post offices in Milan to collect their citizenship income but could not speak Italian. This is how the Postal and Communications Police Department of Milan launched an investigation that led to the identification of over fifty individuals who have received or attempted to receive citizenship income without being entitled to it.
It was like that dismantled a real criminal association which organized the entry into Italy of subjects coming from Romania, Austria and Germany to go to the post offices in Milan in order to receive the card, which they collected upon presentation of falsified documents. The investigation, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Rome Postal and Communications Police Service, began in September 2020 and over time led to the arrest of two subjects found in possession of false documentation, the execution of eight searches and the discovery of prepaid cards, receipts for submitting the application for citizenship income, as well as messages that interested parties exchanged via chat to arrange travel and stay in the area.
