A draft law on the ban on adoption for citizens of unfriendly countries was submitted to the State Duma
A draft law was submitted to the State Duma to ban the adoption and placement of Russian orphans by citizens of unfriendly countries under guardianship. Document posted in the electronic database of the Parliament.
The authors of the initiative were deputies Leonid Slutsky, Boris Chernyshov (both represent the Liberal Democratic Party), Dmitry Pevtsov (New People), Nina Ostanina (KPRF) and Yana Lantratova (SRZP). The idea involves lifting the corresponding ban without amending the Family Code if the country stops committing unfriendly actions against Russia.
In Russia, such bans have already been introduced. In particular, since January 1, 2013, the “Dima Yakovlev Law” has been in force in the country, which was a response to the American “Magnitsky Act”. According to it, US citizens are prohibited from adopting Russian children.
